OBITUARY - DORIS (RUCKMAN) ENGLAND

Doris ENGLAND, 72, of Des Moines, formerly of Mount Ayr, died December 3, 2006, at Hospice Kavanagh in West Des Moines.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, at Park Avenue Christian Church in Des Moines. The body was cremated with burial at a later date. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, December 7, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr.

Doris ENGLAND, daughter of Diamond and Homer RUCKMAN, was born June 30, 1934, in Mount Ayr. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School. In 1953, Doris married Jack ENGLAND and later divorced. Doris worked for Shafer Insurance in Mount Ayr for several years. In the late 1980s, she moved to Des Moines after living on a farm between Tingley and Ellston for many years and retiring from Agri-Credit. She also worked at Principal Financial Group. She was a member of Park Avenue Christian Church in West Des Moines and the American Legion Auxiliary in Tingley.

Survivors include three children, Kathy SIMPSON of Cumming, Diane GIBRIL of Des Moines and Jeff ENGLAND of Ellston; two brothers, John (wife Patty) RUCKMAN of Rincon, Ga., and Rex RUCKMAN of Stockton, Calif.; three sisters, Helen (husband Tom) SHAY of Des Moines, Hazel (husband Delbert) JACKSON of Grant City, Mo., and Mary Ellen (husband Chuck) SHIMERDLA of Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry RUCKMAN and nephew Bill JACKSON.
