The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1925
DEATH of Mrs. MARIETTA EIGHME.
Mrs. Marietta EIGHME, one of the best loved women of Ringgold county and for many years a resident of Mount Ayr, passed peacefully
away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cora EDWARDS, of Tingley township, Wednesday, November 11, after a long illness. She was
born in 1854 in New York state, where she was educated in the Williamsville academy, and taught school near Buffalo, N.Y., where
she met and was united in marriage with Franklin M. EIGHME. To this union six children were born, five of whom survive their mother.
They are A.G., R. N. and L.F. EIGHME and Mrs. Cora EDWARDS, all of Tingley township and Mrs. Etta KINSELL of Alhambra, Calif. She
is also survived by one brother and one sister, thirteen grandchildren and four great granchildren. Mr. and Mrs. EIGHME resided for many
years on a farm in Washington township. Mr. EIGHME passed away May 21, 1912, since which time Mrs. EIGHME maintained a home in Mount
Ayr, spending a greater part of her time among her children.
Before her death Mrs. EIGHME gave direction in regard to the
funeral service, selecting as the scripture to be read and from which the sermon should be preached the fourteenth chapter of St. John's gospel.
She also selected the songs to be sung, and her wishes were complied with at the service which was held yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon at the
Church of Christ, where she had held membership during her long and useful life in the community. The funeral was conducted by the pastor,
Rev. Ross WILLIAMS, and was largely attended by friends who came to pay tribute to the memory of a gentle woman, a wonderful helpmate and
companion who went about her work quietly and untiringly ministered to family, friends, and neighbors in sickness and trouble. Mrs. EIGHME
will ever be remembered for her kindly deeds, and brave and courageous character, born of perfect faith, radiated joy and gladness.
Following the services at the church they body was tenderly laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.Card of Thanks.
