OBITUARY - LUCIUS DALE EIGHME

Lucius Dale EIGHME, 86, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, formerly of Tingley, Iowa, died July 28, 2001, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Mr. EIGHME, son of Lucius Franklin "Lute" EIGHME and Clara Joyce "Teen" (ELDER) EIGHME was born January 28, 1915, in rural Tingley. He was graduated from the Tingley high school in 1934.

On May 16, 1941 he married Georgia Lee LUTZ at Princeton, Missouri. Two daughters, twins Doris Elaine and Mary Lynn, were born to them.

L. D. was a farmer and a licensed jeweler. He stripped blue grass, seeded lawns and was involved in soil erosion control. He also had his own company, E & G Landscaping.

In 1956 L. D. and Georgia moved into Tingley. Lucius loved to hunt, trap, repair clocks and watches and be with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rex and Frank.

He is survived by his wife Georgia of Mount Ayr; his daughters, Mary Lynn (husband Dennis) MILLER of Ankeny, Iowa and Doris (husband Roger) HERINGTON of Tracy, Iowa; five grandchildren: Troy MILLER, Lori GREENE, Kevin GREENE, John HERINGTON and Nicole ABERNATHY; 14 great-grandchildren: Chris, Tosha and Teah Miller, Zach, Nick and Tori GREENE, Dustin and Jeremy Richards, Nichol Vander VEER, T. J. LATCHAM, Alex HERINGTON, Zach STOUT, Jered and Jaydin ABERNATHY; and one great-great-grandchild Noa Vander VEER.

He is also survived by his sister Alice Marie SCOTT of Yankton, South Dakota, other devoted relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Eydie STEPHENS officiating. Ginny EIGHMY was the organist. Casket bearers were Kenny SCHAEFER, Gary PETERSOHN, Joe DUKES, Mike SCHAEFER, Frank POLLOCK and Jerry McALEXANDER.

L. D. was laid to rest in the Tingley Cemetery, Tingley.
