The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1932

OBITUARY - EVA M. ECKERMAN

Eva M. ECKERMAN was born October 5, 1871, at Washington, Iowa [the daughter of Mary (DUDLEY) and Isaac ECKERMAN], and departed this life April 17, 1932, at her home in Tingley, Iowa, at the age of 60 years, six months and 12 days, after only a brief illness.

She united with the Christian church April, 1885, at the age of thirteen and one-half years and lived an exemplary life ever since. In the spring of 1886 she came with her parents from Washington, Iowa, to Tingley, where she has made her home ever since with the exception of two years spent at Oelwein, Iowa. She attended the Humeston Normal College the winter of 1890-91. She taught school successfully for eight years, four years of that time in the Tingley schools.

In September, 1908, she was united in marriage to William E. ECKERMAN who preceded her in death on October 11, 1928. She leaves to mourn her loss one brother, D. Earl ECKERMAN of Tingley; two daughters, Mrs. Jay WOODWARD and Mrs. Frank HANNA of Oelwein; two grandsons and two granddaughters and several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

She was a loving wife and mother and a friend to everyone. To know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed in the church and by all of her many friends. During her last illness she wanted to go to be with ther loved ones in the Great Beyond.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 19, 1932, at the Tingley church of Christ, conducted by Rev. W. Harold SMITH, pastor of the Church of Christ at Mount Ayr, and attended by a large congregation. Interment was made in the Tingley cemetery by the side of her husband.

NOTE: William E. ECKERMAN was born in 1859 and died October 11., 1928.
