Benjamin Curtis Dodge entered this world in the early morning hours of Friday,
February 26, 1982 in Creston, Iowa. He passed from this world in the early
morning hours of Sunday, August 24, 1997, in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 15
years, five months and 29 days. ~ ~ ~ ~
His most enjoyable times were spent with his parents, Karla Kay (Kniep) Hogue
(husband Randy) and Darrell Curtis Dodge (wife Angela); his brothers Joshua
Hancock and Nathan Hogue; his sisters Nicole Hogue, Annie Johnson, and Jentry
Johnson; his grandparents Myrna Dodge and the late Benjamin Dodge, Donna Moore
(husband Keith), and Ron Kniep (wife Becky); great grandparents Eileen Matheny
and the late Earl Matheny,
and Walt and Millie Kniep; and great-great grandmother Opal Freemyers;
godparents Diane and Randy Long; cousins Jeremy and Heather Long; and step
grandparents Bob and Neva Fisher and Beverly Hogue. ,p.
Ben increased the size of his family on Thursday, April 13, 1995, when he
chose Jesus Christ as his personal savior. On that date Ben and his dad were
baptized together into the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, a decision of
which both were quite proud.
He lived in Indianola, Des Moines, Bridgewater and Clearfield before finally
settling in Mount Ayr.
Ben left this world doing what he enjoyed best-having fun with his friends.
Unfortunately a tragic accident cut short the fun, but he will be fondly
remembered by all those he leaves behind.
He was laid to rest under a large oak tree on a hill in the Oak Ridge Cemetery
north of Mount Ayr on Wednesday,
August 27, 1997. Laying him to rest were Jeremy Burmeister, Nolan Howie,
Jeremy Long, B J. Poppe, Ryan Roe, Scott Rumple, teammates from the 1997 Mount
Ayr Raider baseball team, and, of course, his beloved family and friends.

IN LOVING MEMORY
Benjamin Curtis Dodge
February 26, 1982 ~ August 24, 1997
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived,
You can close your eyes
And pray that he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes
And see all that he has left.
Your heart can be
Because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of
The love you shared.
You can turn your back on
And live yesterday, or you
Can be happy for tomorrow
Because of yesterday.
And you can remember him
And only that's he's gone,
Or you can cherish
His memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your
Be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want;
Smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.
With love then, now, and forever,
Dad and Angi
Jentry, Daniel, and Dylan
