OBITUARY ~ DOROTHY BERNICE (MANNING) DICKEY

Dorothy Bernice (MANNING) DICKEY departed this life on March 17, 2008 at the age of 83 years, eight months and 28 days. She was the daughter of the late Andy and Rebecca (GRINDSTAFF) MANNING. She was born June 19, 1924 on a farm northeast of Grant City, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Raymond DICKEY on October 20, 1960. They had one adopted son, Michael. He has one daughter, Melissa.

Dorothy was converted in 1936 and on 1950 received a pentecostal experience with the Lord. She was in Evangelistic Services and Vacation Bible School in 1957 and 1958. She got her Ministerial License in The Full Gospel Ministry and had a radio broadcast on KNIM in Maryville, Missouri for four to five years.

Dorothy graduated from the Grant City high school in 1943 and taught the Jackson First Class School that fall in September 1943. She taught several terms of rural school, then decided on secretarial work in offices. She was secretary for county agent shortly before her marriage, at that time accepting the Nodaway Worth Electric two-way radio service in her home. This was the office work for her husband's employment. She had this service in her home until 1972 when Raymond had a heart attack and retired from REA employment.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister and her husband, Raymond, in 1986. She is survived by cousins.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri with Rev. John BIDDLE officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
