OBITUARY ~ VADA OLIVE (SHAFER) DENHART
Vada Olive DENHART was born January 15, 1917 to Day and Vergie (ADAIR) SHAFER at Redding, Iowa. She graduated from
Mount Ayr high school in 1934 and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. Vada lived most all of her life in
Mount Ayr, Iowa but did live in Redding and Blockton for a short time as a child.
She married John H. DENHART on
August 30, 1936 in Mount Ayr. To this union was born a son, John Carlton, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Sybil Ann.
Vada was a superb homemaker, a very kind and loving wife and mother. John and Vada celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary
on August 30 of this year at the Clearview Nursing Home where they have resided for the past two years.
Vada was a
50 year member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star of Mount Ayr and a past matron. She was a loving
grandma to Kurt and Karlin and enjoyed keeping them as small children.
She also enjoyed the time she spent with her
two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Natasha. Through the years she enjoyed canning and freezing the many goodies John raised
in the garden and keeping an immaculate home. For fun she liked to work on skits with her dear friend, Margaret PLACE, for
the drama club to which they both belonged. She also liked to play bridge, read, fish, hunt mushrooms and faithfully watched
the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Vada passed away at the Ringgold County Hospital on September 11, 2002 at the age of 85.
