Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

OBITUARY ~ VIOLA DEIBERT

Viola (WARDRIP) DEIBERT, oldest daughter of Clarence and Mae WARDRIP, was born September 1, 1916 in Ringgold County, Mount Ayr, Iowa, and died October 12 [1986] in the Ringgold County Hospital at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 12 days.

Viola received her education at Delphos High School and then went on to receive a teacher's degree from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville, Missouri.

On January 2, 1935 she was united in marriage to Arthur DEIBERT. They spent their entire life in Ringgold County.

Vi was afflicted with crippling arthritis at the young age of 35. Despite this handicap, she maintained a full life. Vi was a devoted Christian, accepting Christ as a young age. She and her husband joined the Mount Ayr Christian Church, December 12, 1954. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbor Lodge, Monday Club, VIC Club, and Leisure Club.

Vi was a loving and devoted wife, sister and aunt. Her greatest pleasure was being around people. She spent much of her time playing cards with a group of many neighbors and friends weekly.

Viola and Arthur were not blessed with any children but enjoyed their nieces and nephews in their home anytime.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; and a sister, Vera HARTSCHEN. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Vergine SMITH and husband Carroll; Vesta SHAHA and husband Rex; brother and sister-in-laws Ivan and Donella HARTMAN, George and Gladys DEIBERT, St. Joseph, Mo.; Forest and Mildred FOLTZ, Denver, Col.; nieces ad nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 15, 1986, at Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, conducted by Pastors Phil and Doris KINTON. Music was by Mike GREEN, Mrs. Jim JONES and Mrs. Robert FISHER.

Casketbearers were Kyle SHAHA, Kurtis SHAHA, Neil HARTMAN, Kenneth HERREN, Herschel HARTSCHEN, and George DEIBERT, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers were Max MCGEHEE, Albert DRAKE, Hilding SHUM, Gerald WILLEY, [portion missing; interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr]

"Won't Hurt Anymore."

Aunt Vi, we all loved you
May you rest in peace with God
And may you find happiness and rest
Cause you won't hurt anymore.

If the weather has rainy and cloudy
How your bones and joints ached
But you never, never complained 'cause you had strength
And now, you won't hurt anymore.

You were a great fighter right to the end
A fearless example to all you knew
Now God's caring and open arms will hold you
And you won't hurt anymore.
