OBITUARY ~ EVA MAYE (WADDELL) DEEMER
Eva Maye DEEMER was born October 8, 1913 near Mount Ayr, Iowa to Charles and Bertha (HAMMOND) WADDELL. She departed
this life on January 27, 2003 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr which had been her home since October, 1998.
lived all but 10 years of her life in the vicinity of Mount Ayr. On April 11, 1931 she was married to Albert DEEMER
in Osceola, Iowa. To this union four daughters were born: Laverne Eloise (Dee), Lois Elaine, Alberta Joyce and
Pamela Lynn. Albert and Eva bought a farm south of Mount Ayr in 1942 and lived there until 1972 when they moved into
Mount Ayr. After Albert's death in 1985 Eva moved to an apartment in Heritage Park. She was very happy there and
enjoyed all her neighbors.
Albert and Eva were privileged to celebrate 50 years of marriage in 1981. This and other
family times were always special to Eva. She often recalled them.
Eva gave her life to Christ at an young age and was
later baptized at the Christian Church in Mount Ayr. Later she transferred her membership to the United Methodist
Church in Mount Ayr where she remained a member until her death.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and
Bertha; brothers, Alvin, Ray, Harry, Dick and J.R.; sisters, Opal BAYMAN, Pearl GIBBENS and Eunice DEEMER; and a
son-in-law, Neil KIDNEY, whom she loved as her son.
She is survived by her daughters, Dee KAUS and husband Neil of
Scottsdale, Arizona, Lois JOHNSON and husband Kenny and Joyce SMITH and husband, Max, both of Mount Ayr, and Pamela
HECKATHORN of Fort Hills, Arizona; two sisters, Irene SPENCER and Marjorie WARNKE, both of Mount Ayr; grandchildren,
Tedi KLEIN and husband Ken of Fort Hills, Arizona, Randy KIDNEY of Scottsdale, Arizona, Kris KIDNEY and wife Michelle
of Chandler, Arizona, Kelli HOFFMAN of Scottsdale, Arizona, Terri COLE and husband Dick of Mount Ayr, Kevin JOHNSON and
wife Gina of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Lesa ROUSE of Des Moines, Jeff SMITH and wife Tammy of Denver, Colorado, Sherri
SEYNAEVE and husband Randy of Vancouver, Washington, Sheila LE and husband Bo of Arlington, Washington, Amy HECKATHORN
of Fort Hills, Arizona and Andrew HECKATHORN of Des Moines; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous
brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 21, 2003 at
the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong FUneral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Susan THOMAS officiating. Musical selections of
"The Old Rugged Cross," "In The Garden," and "One Day At A Time" were provided by Debbie CANNON and June and James
Casket bearers were Andrew HECKATHORN, Amy HECKATHORN, Kevin JOHNSON, Kiley GORMAN, Jeff SMITH, Lesa ROUSE
and Chad ROUSE. Honorary pallbearers were Tedi KLEIN, Randy KIDNEY, Kris KIDNEY, Kelli HOFFMAN, Terri COLE, Sherri
SEYNAEVE and Sheila LE.
Eva was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
