OBITUARY ~ ANNIE "PEARL" (MORRISON) DAVIS
February 19, 1920 ~ October 30, 2012
Annie Pearl MORRISON was born February 19, 1920, to Fletcher Linwood and Annie Pearl JENKINS MORRISON in Hanover County,
Virginia. She passed away October 30, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, at the age of 92.
Pearl attended elementary and high school at Washington-Henry School near Mechanicsville, Virginia, graduating in 1936.
She loved learning, and enjoyed being in plays and researching historical events while in school. After high school,
Pearl worked at The Life Insurance Company of Virginia in Richmond.
In May, 1942, Pearl met her future husband, Royce DAVIS, at a military dance in Richmond, Virginia. They were married
May 29, 1943, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Following Royce's discharge from the army, Royce and Pearl made their home in Mount
Ayr where their daughters, Marilyn and Carol, were born. After their retirement in 1980, they moved to Bella Vista,
Arkansas, where Pearl lived until 2008. At that time she moved to Highland Ridge Assisted Living in Williamsburg, Iowa.
Pearl was active in the United Methodist Church, spending many years volunteering at church and community activities.
She also enjoyed playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, P.E.O. activities and was a life-long
learner. Many people will also remember eating her wonderful orange rolls. She made friends wherever she went and was
a most gracious lady with a winning smile and a ready sense of humor…a Steel Magnolia.
Preceding Pearl in death were her husband, Royce, her parents, and her siblings, Edgar, Aubrey, Dorothy, Norma, Julia,
James, and Barbara.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Marilyn (James) SAVILLE of Mount Ayr, and Carol (Mark) EIGHMY of Riverside,
Iowa; grandsons Doug (Suzan) SAVILLE, Nathan (Sunny) EIGHMY and Brandon (Veronica) EIGHMY; and great-grandchildren
Bailey and Ryan SAVILLE, Piper, Saylor, Zoey, Fynn, Lincoln, Harrison and Blythe EIGHMY; a sister, Lucille (Art) BOWER;
a sister-in-law, Evelyn MORRISON; nieces and nephews, and many other friends and relatives.
A memorial fund has been established to the United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
