OBITUARY ~ BETTY MAE (BLANCHARD) FRANKE COY

Betty Mae Coy of Gassville, Arkansas, formerly of Creston, died Sunday, December 12 at, Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Worth County, Missouri on Monday, November 29. She was fifty-nine years of age.

Mrs. Coy was born at Panora, Iowa on May 18, 1923 to Robert and Daisy Kinkennori Blanchard.

She was united in marriage with Russell C. Franke on March 19, 1938. He preceded her in death March 27, 1967.

On April 27, 1968, Betty was married to Acil Coy in Orient, Iowa.

Mrs. Coy lived in Creston most of her life, until moving to Minnesota in 1970 and then to Arkansas in 1976. She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death besides her first husband were her parents and a half brother, Luther Keller.

Survivors include her husband of the home in Arkansas; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Dukes of Lenox; three sons, Wayne Franke, Arthur Franke, both of Creston and Leroy Franke of Des Moines; a step-daughter, Mrs. Anna Beth Williams of California; two step-sons, Charles Coy, Sr. and Dick Coy, both of Des Moines; fourteen grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Bertha Wiley of Osceola, Mrs. Myrtle Allen of Indianola, Mrs. Irene Overholzer of Creston, Mrs. Marie Perry of Des Moines, Mrs. Margaret Harden of Arizona, and Mrs. Mildred Cochran of California; and three brothers, Allen and Alfred Blanchard, both of Creston and her twin brother, Bert Blanchard of Des Moines.

Services were held Wednesday, December 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Keating-Lindsay Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Ellis Cooper of the Crest Baptist Church in Creston officiated.

The organist was Mrs. Barbara Kuyper and the vocalist was Mrs. Berniece Mason. Vocal selections were "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The special organ selection was "In the Garden". Casket bearers were Ben Dodge, Carl Vogel, Harry Loghry, Glen Heinbuch and Emil Orth.

Interment was in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.

A memorial has been established to the Salvation Army with the proceeds to be given to the "Dress the Doll" Christmas fund.
