OBITUARY ~ MINNIE BELLE (SHEPHERD) CORDELL

Minnie Belle SHEPHERD was born at home in Taylor county, Iowa on June 2, 1920 to parents, Olive Pearl and Albert Elmer SHEPHERD. Minnie was raised in Bedford, Iowa and married Cecil Troy CORDELL on March 26, 1939. To this union seven children were born: Eugene (Slim), Albert (Cotton), Ann, Kay, Richard (Slug), Carol and Elinor (Ellie).

Minnie and Cecil moved to Clearfield, Iowa in 1955 and lived there until they moved to Lenox, Iowa in 1973. After Cecil's death in 1990, Minnie moved to Regency Park Apartments in Creston, Iowa. Minnie moved to the Clearview Home in Clearfield in 1999, where she died on February 28, 2003.

Minnie was preceded in death by her fathr Albert SHEPHERD; stepfather Ira TALKINGTON; mother Olive TALKINGTON; husband Cecil; two grandsons, Troy CORDELL and David HAIDSIAK, infant brother; and sister Audrey JEFFERIES.

Minnie is survived by her children: Slim CORDELL and wife Beverly of Creston, Cotton CORDELL and wife Gladys of Des Moines, Iowa, Jo CARROLL of Prole, Iowa, Ann HAIDSIAK of Hammond, Indiana, Kay BOLINGER and husband Floyd of Diagonal, Iowa, Slug CORDELL and wife Dianne of Hardy, Arkansas, Carol CORDELL of Ames, Iowa, and Ellie LUMBARD and husband Spencer of Diagonal; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a brother Harold SHEPHERD and wife Velma of Bedford; nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2003 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Creston with Dr. Bryon LAMUN officiating. Casket bearers were Craig CORDELL, Terry CARROLL, Joshua HAIDSIAK, Chad BOLLINGER, Wade BOLLINGER, Michael CORDELL, Louis LUMBARD, Isaac LUMBARD and Jason MOFFITT.

Minnie was laid to rest in the Bedford City Cemetery, Bedford.

Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
