OBITUARY ~ ARLETA BELLE COOK

Arleta COOK was born January 30, 1915 to William August and Nellie Leona "FUGATE" COOK in Sidney, MT. She departed this life on February 21, 1998 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA.

She made her home with her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Arleta graduated from high school in Mount Ayr in 1932. She preceded to work in other people's homes as a housekeeper and nanny.

Arleta moved to California in 1950 after traveling around the United States, working as a waitress and office worker. She was never married, and was very independent. She finally went to work in Sacramento for the Department of Motor Vehicles. She transferred to Whittier to be close to her sister Helen in 1960. Here she worked her way up to supervisor. She retired in November of 1974 at which time she moved back to Mount Ayr to care for her sick mother, with her sister Leona. She has lived in Mount Ayr for the last 24 years.

Arleta was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Orville and Wayne, and a sister, Viola SWIETLIK.

She is survived by her two sisters, Leona POTTORFF of Mount Ayr and Helen VOWLES of Simi, CA, plus several nieces and nephews.

Arleta was loved and will be missed.

Graveside services were held at Marshalltown Cemetery, Benton, IA on February 25, 1998. Officiating was Reverend Michael DRUHL.

Casketbearers were Lee AYERS, Jack PERRY, Paul KASPER, Joe SWIETLIK, Harry LOGHRY, Gary POTTORFF, Bob POTTORFF and Bobby POTTORFF. Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr made arrangements.

A memorial will be established in the name of Arleta B. COOK.
