OBITUARY ~ FREDA MAY (JAMESON) COMBS

Freda May COMBS of Clearfield, Iowa, died December 2, 2003, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa.

Freda was born March 24, 1912, on a farm south of Clearfield to Thomas Earl and Sadie PARKHURST JAMESON. As a young child, Freda moved with her family to Redding, Iowa where she attended school. On February 26, 1930, she married John Edman COMBS. They lived in Redding until 1949 when they family moved to a farm south of Clearfield. Freda later worked at Clearview Nursing Home, Spurrier Oil Company and was a cook several years at the Clearfield Community school.

Survivors include daughter Donna Mae HIATT of Grant City, Missouri; son Donald Dean "Duck" (Judy) COMBS of Bloomfield, Iowa; grandchildren, Regina (Jim) ROGERS of Faucett, Missouri; Kevin (Shelly) HIATT of Grant City, Jeffery COMBS of Stockton, California and Victor (Michelle) COMBS of Bloomfield; and six great-grandchilren.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; brother Charls SMITH; and husband John.

Freda found great joy in her family and friends. In her last years, she still loved to play cards or bingo with the "girls" whenever she had the opportunity. She was a member of Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield with Reverend Len GARRISON officiating. Casket bearers were Brock HIATT, Jordan HIATT, Kyler HIATT, Kevin HIATT, Victor COMBS and Jim ROGERS. Honorary pallbearers were Jeffery COMBS, J. B. ROUTH and Lawrence BARKER.

Freda was laid to rest in the Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield.

Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
