OBITUARY ~ KATY IRVILLA (GOFF) CANNY

Katy Irvilla Goff, daughter of John and Martha Goff was born near Grant City, Mo., Oct 20, 1875 and passed away at the Municipal Hospital in Clarinda Iowa, Aug 8, 1957 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 19 days.

When 18 years of age she moved with her parents to the Clearfield community where she lived on a farm south of town. She was united in marriage to Daniel Canny April 21, 1897 and they lived together on the home farm for forty-five years until his death in 1942 after which she moved to her home in Clearfield where she lived the last 15 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one infant daughter and a son Elmer who died by accidental drowning June 22, 1917.

She is survived by two daughters. Mrs Lulu Parrish of Bedford and Mrs Lena Fitch of Clarinda; also her son-in-law Armon Fitch, three grandsons Donald, James and Joe Fitch and two granddaughters Lois Fitch and Louise Parrish, two brothers Reade and Harry Goff of Ottawa, Kansas as well as nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.

She became a member of the church early in life uniting with the Honey Grove church near Grant City and transferring to the Clearfield Methodist church over 50 years ago.

Mrs. Canny was loved and respected by those who knew her and while failing eye sight had restricted her activities of late years, she kept a fine interest in the church and other activities. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Relief Corps.

Final services were held at the Clearfield Methodist church Sunday afternoon August 11, conducted by the pastor Rev Howard F Ball. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery.
