OBITUARY ~ SCHARLOTTE (FINKHEINER) DUEY

Mrs. Stephen Duey, of Clearfield, 68 years of age, died Sunday, Jan. 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joey Spring in Lenox. Funeral services were held Wednesday; Jan. 7, at the Methodist Church in Clearfield. The Rev. Wilmer Doughty of Burlington, a life long friend, officiated, assisted by Rev. C. E. McPherson. Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Scharlotte Finkheiner, daughter of Johan and Rosene Finkheiner, was born in Wertenberg, Germany, April 18, 1884 and passed from this mortal life in Lenox, Iowa, Jan. 4 1953 at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 16 days. The parents with their family came to Graham, Mo. in 1885 but when Scharlotte was 6 years old they returned to their native country. After staying a year in Germany, they again came back to Graham, Mo.

It was there that she spent her youth and grew to womanhood. On April 5, 1905 she was united in marriage to Stephen Duey, and they lived near Graham, Mo. until 1923, when they moved to a farm northwest of Lenox, Ia. To this union were born four daughters, Eathyl Mclntire, Creston, Ia., Rosetta Corliss, Conway, Ia.; Mollie Johnston Creston, Ia.; Joey Spring, Lenox, Ia.; and two sons: John of Clearfield, and L. J. of Allison, Ia.

The Christian life of Mrs. Duey, dated from her girlhood, when she united with the Presbyterian Church in Graham, Mo. and later transferred her membership to the Oak Grove Church. She was steadfast in her Christian faith to the last. She was forgetful of self in her untiring ministry to others and her devotion to her husband and children and care of her home came first. She was held in esteem by her friends for her beautiful traits of character.

To cherish her memory are her loving husband, the six children and their companions, 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren also five sisters: Anna Yount, Irvington, Nebr.; Rose Dodd, Sabetha, Kans.; Louise Steel, Onawa, Mich.; Lena Wright, Elba, Colo.; Sophia Sticken, Graham, Mo.; and two brothers. Fred Finkheiner, Youma, Colo., Chris Finkheiner, Miles City, Mont.; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandchildren.

OBITUARY ~ CHARLOTTE (FINKBEINER) DUEY

CLEARFIELD -- Charlotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John [Rosine (WERTZL)] FINKBEINER, was born in Wurttemberg, Germany, and died Sunday Jan. 4 in Lenox at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joy SPRiNG.

The parents came to America and permanently located near Graham, Mo. In 1900, on April 5, 1905 she was married to Stephen [Henry] DUEY. In 1923 they came to Lenox, later moving to Clearfield. To this union was born six children: Eathyl McINTIRE, Creston; Rosetta CORLISS, Conway; Mollie JOHNSON, Creston; Joy SPRING, Lenox; John DUEY, Clearfield and L. J. DUEY, Allison, Iowa.

Surviving are the husband, the six children, 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Clearfield with Rev. W. DOUGHERTY of Burlington officiating. Burial in Clearfield.
