OBITUARY - MARY MARGUERITE (FERBER) DRAKE

Mary FERBER DRAKE was born July 13, 1903 to John and Hennrietta (CASE) FERBER in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She passed away September 29, 1999 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center at the age of 96 years.

Mary attended school in Mount Ayr. After high school she taught three years in rural schools. She went back to teaching after raising her family. While teaching she completed her college degree graduating from Drake University in 1965. Mary taught a total of 32 years.

Mary was united in marriage to Warren DRAKE on April 10, 1925 and to this union were born four boys and one girl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hennrietta FERBER; her husband Warren on March 31, 1985; son Linden on May 14, 1996; grandson Rodney DRAKE; brother Floyd FERBER; and a sister Ruth SHEIL.

Mary is survived by Donella DRAKE, Paul and wife Mildred DRAKE and Merl and wife Thelma DRAKE of Mount Ayr, Lyle DRAKE of Pineville, Oregon and Mildred JOHNSTON and husband Herb of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law Floy DRAKE of Mount Ayr; one sister-in-law Opal FERBER of Osceola; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr on Friday, October 1, 1999 with Reverend Michael DRUHL officiating. Nancy SACKETT, Margaret BICKERS and Mary WEBB provided music. Casketbearers were Deric DRAKE, Randy DRAKE, Scott DRAKE, Jerold ADAMS, Galen SWANSON and Eric JOHNSTON.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
