OBITUARY - FLOY W. DRAKE
Floy W. DRAKE, 96, of Mount Ayr died January 7, 2006, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The
Rev. Susan THOMAS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. There will be open
visitation after 10 a.m. today with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Mount Ayr. A memorial has
been established in his name.
Mr. DRAKE, son of Della Maud (LONG) and Willis E. DRAKE, was born April 18, 1909, in Mount Ayr. He graduated from Mount Ayr
High School in 1926. On January 1, 1931, he married Maude Opal McKEE in Mount Ayr. He was a farmer and former Ringgold County
assessor. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice (husband Dale) GREENE of Mount Ayr and Ann (husband Rex) WALTERS of Beaconsfield;
six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Vernon, Cloyd, Raymond and Warren DRAKE; sister Florence
DRAKE and granddaughter Debra WALTERS.

OBITUARY _ FLOY WILSON DRAKE
Floy Wilson DRAKE was born April 18, 1909 in Liberty Township near Mount Ayr, Iowa. He departed this life at the Ringgold
County Hospital on January 7, 2006. His parents were Willis and Della (LONG) DRAKE.
He attended and graduated from
Mount Ayr High School in 1926.
In 1931 he was united in marriage with Maude Opal McKEE in Mount Ayr. To this union
were born two children, Alice Kay GREENE of Mount Ayr and Lois Ann WALTERS of Beaconsfield.
He was preceded in death
byhis wife; parents; one granddaughter, Debra WALTERS; four brothrs, Vernon, Cloyde, Warren and Raymond and infant
sister, Florence. He was also preceded in death by his wife's parents, brothers and sisters.
He was a lifelong member of
the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church. His Christian faith was very important to him. By example, he was the
foundation for his family in a quiet way. The family and grandchildren were a very important part of his life. He spent
his entire life farming and enjoyed livestock. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and going south for the winter months.
Floy is survived by his daughters, Alice (Dale) GREENE and Ann (Rex) WALTERS; grandchildren, Craig and Sherry GREENE
and Melissa of Knoxville, Iowa, Curtis and Billie Jo GREENE and Steven and Scott of Ellston, Iowa, Leann and Chris BOSWELL
and Colton of Van Meter, Iowa, Carol Ann and Danny WEEDA and Matthew and Amy of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Janelle and
Mark DAVISON and Cooper and Drake of Saint Joseph, Missouri, and also nieces, nephews and many friends.
conducted at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Susan
THOMAS officiating. Musicians were Nancy SACKETT and John ALLEN.
Casket bearers were Craig GREENE, Curtis GREENE, Chris
BOSWELL, Danny WEEDA, Matthew WEEDA and Mark DAVISON.
Floy was laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
