OBITUARY - MILLARD B. DAVIS

Millard B. DAVIS died March 4, 2004, at Grinnell, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Grinnell; his children and their spouses, Rosemary and Warren WEAVER of Grinnell, Patricia and Richard TRUCKS of Lenox, Beverly and Tom OLSON of Round Rock, Texas, Catherine and Roger GILBREAITH of Newton, Debra and Greg MIELAK of Grinnell; Jacqueline DAVIS and Tom LOUCKS of Grinnell, and Carol OSBORN of Grinnell; one sister, Mary Ann SPRAGUE of Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Olive DAVIS of Mt. Ayr; nineteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy MATHES; and one brother, Paul DAVIS. Mr. DAVIS graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1941.

He was a member of the Grinnell Eagles Lodge, Grinnell Elks Lodge, and the Farm Bureau.

"Stinky" loved his life on the farm and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He instilled a strong work ethic in his daughters, took great pride in running a successful farm operation, and was inventive with farm machinery. He thoroughly enjoyed attending auctions, cattle sales, and collecting antiques. He also enjoyed beekeeping, card playing with family and friends, attending stock car races, and watching movies on the old west.

A memorial fund in his name will be established.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, at Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell, Iowa. Interment at Pleasant Township Cemetery, Ewart, Iowa. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
