OBITUARY - RUTH ANNALEE (BURNISON) CUMMINGS

Ruth Annalee BURNISON was born in Caledonia, Ringgold County, Iowa, December 5, 1883 and died August 18, 1905. She moved with her parents to Davis City [Decatur County, Iowa] in 1894 where she has since lived. In 1895 she united with the M.E. Church and through her long sickness she expressed great faith in Jesus. A few moments before she passed away, she told her parents that she was nearing her home of rest.

In 1900 she was united in marriage to John Arthur CUMMINGS and to this union was born one child, Crystal Belle. Father, mother, husband, three brothers, five sisters and one child, with many friends, remain to mourn her loss.

Ruth's life was always bright and full of sunshine with pleasant greeting for all. She contracted a severe cold during the burning of her home in February, 1904, which developed into the dread disease consumption. Her friends thinking a change of climate would benefit her, took her to the west where she visited with her sisters, Mrs. Sadie COBERLEY and Mrs. J. H. POTTORFF for several months and seemed to grow better for a time but not being contented, her husband took her first to New Mexico and then to California. As she grew worse, she begged to be brought home that she might see her parents before death came. All was done that could be done by a loving mother and friends to make her last days pleasent.

The family were all present at the funeral but one brother and one sister. The funeral was preached by Rev. BINGAMAN at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon, when a large concourse of people paid their last respects to all that was mortal of their friend.
