OBITUARY - JOHN FRANKLIN "FRANK" COX

John Franklin COX, son of John and Kathleen COX, was born in Peoria County, Illinois, April 2, 1860, and died at his home in Conway, November 16, 1942, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 14 days.

On February 20, 1880, he was married to Caroline STURM of Andrew County, Illinois. To them were born four children, one of whom, Grace, died when 13 years of age.

In the year 1890 he and his family came to Iowa and settled near Sharpsburg, where they made their home most of the time until they moved to Conway in 1926, where he resided until his death. Mrs. COX died March 17, 1929.

He is survived by three children: Mrs. Maude DUNN, Mrs. Blanch JOHNSON and Roy COX, all of the Conway community; three grandchildren: Meryle JOHNSON of Mount Ayr, Mrs. Mildred MURRAY of Orient and Mrs. Thelma HERREN of Creston; and one great granddaughter, Carrol MURRAY.

Shortly after coming to Iowa, he and his family joined the Blue Ridge [Blue Grove] Christian church where he continued to be a faithful member as long as his health permitted.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Conway Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Francis B. HARRIS. Burial was in the Conway cemetery.

COX were Mr. and Mrs. Will PRESTON, Mr. and Mrs. Lester JOHNSON of Lenox; Mrs. Jim BOYER and Velsa, Jud STURM and Ollie, Mr. and Mrs. Art STURM of Sharpsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Orval BATES, Alvin DUNN of Corning; Mr. and Mrs. Harl STURM, Mr. and Mrs. Howard STURM, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe DUNN of Gravity; Guy Thompson, Perry DUNN of Bedford; Mr. and Mrs. Vern POTTIESTI, Charley STURM of Clarinda; Mr. and Mrs. JOHNSON of Mount Ayr.
