Susie Cortner, 99, Rites Held June 8 In Blockton

Funeral services for Mrs. Lawrence CORTNER, 99, of Monrovia, Calif., formerly of Winterset and Taylor County, were held at the Blockton Christian Church, conducted by Rev. George SWAN. Mrs. CORTNER died June 5, 1973 at Monrovia, Calif. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton.

Mrs. Susan F[rances]. CORTNER was the former Susan ARGO, daughter of Alexander and Mary ARGO. She was born at Maloy, Iowa February 26, 1874. She was married there November 27, 1895, to Lawrence E[lmer. Benson] CORTNER.

Mr. CORTNER preceded her in death in 1919. She was also preceded in death by two children, Mrs. Mary OCHS of Leavenworth and son, Charles [Benson] Cortner, of Blockton. She leaves five children: Mrs. Mae ATKINSON of Pomona, Calif., Harvey and David CORTNER of Baldwin Park, Calif., James CORTNER of Audubon, Iowa and Alfred CORTNER of Winterset; 18 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. CORTNER was a devoted member of the Christian Church.
