Nellie Leona COOK, daughter of James Edward and Belle C. FUGATE, was born March 15, 1887 in Nebraska and departed this
life Jan. 6, 1981 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center at the age of 93 years, nine months and 22 days.
On Feb. 21, 1906, she was united in marriage with William A. COOK and this union was blessed with six children. The
greater part of her life was spent in Ringgold County, mostly in Mount Ayr, where she worked for many of the townspeople.
For 25 years she was employed by the local Rideta Electric Cooperative office until her health failed in 1970.
She joined the Methodist Church in the 1920's and was a faithful member, attending church as long as her health permitted.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was for many years a
member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Rebekak Lodge and MM Club, which she loved.
Her home was always open to young people, when she was raising her children, and even in later years. Many of them thought
of her as "Grandma". Not only was her home open to the young but to the young in heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, four brothers and four sisters.

The family wanted to share the following poem:When my life on earth is over.
And my body is
cold and still.
Do not grieve because I left you.
Just remember it was God's will.
All my suffering
will be over,
Every trial and every test
When God has called and I have answered
Don't weep for me,
I'll be at rest.
Only ask yourself this question,
"Am I ready to meet Him there
Where there'll be no
In heaven so bright and fair."
When you pass to view my body
Remember it's just a house of clay
Jesus has built me a mansion
And I've only moved away.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m.,
Friday, Jan. 9, 1981 at Mount Ayr Rhoades Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Lynn POTTER. Music was by Mr. and Mrs.
