The Mount Ayr News, 1897

ANOTHER SUDDEN DEATH

Charles Conquest Dies Suddenly From Heart Failure.

Charles CONQUEST, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. CONQUEST, living north of the fair grounds, died suddenly Monday morning from heart failure. He had been sick for several weeks with fever but not seriously so, and was able to be around the house all during the time. Monday morning he was feeling better and came out to breakfast. He was left alone a short time, and when his mother re-entered the room, he was dying - breathing his last in a few minutes. He was nearly 21 years of age, and a young man of much promise.

The remains were taken for burial to Davis City on Tuesday, the family having been former residents of Decatur county. He leaves a father [John W. CONQUEST], mother [Elsie E. CONQUEST], brothers and sisters to mourn his untimely death. In their affliction they have the sincere sympathy of many friends.

DEATH of CHARLES CONQUEST

Tuesday's Mt. Ayr News contained an account of the sudden death, Monday afternoon, of Charles CONQUEST, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. CONQUEST, former residents of this county, now residing near Mt. Ayr. It was thought that death was due to heart disease. The News says: "He was a young man about 2l years of age, and had been sick for several weeks with fever, but not confined to his room much of the time. Yesterday morning he arose and came to the breakfast table, saying that he felt considerably better. He was left alone in the room for a few minutes, and when his mother returned to the room, she found him dying. He died a few minutes later."

The remains were brought to this county Tuesday for burial. The family has many friends who sympathize with them in their sudden bereavement.

NOTE: Charles CONQUEST was interred at Bethel Cemetery, Eden Township, Decatur County, Iowa.
