OBITUARY - MARJORIE "GRACE" (EMIG) COMBS

Grace COMBS, 81, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Kellerton, died December 11, 2004, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 14, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home. 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Edward SHIELDS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa, Mount Ayr Chapter, or Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Mrs. COMBS, daughter of Lizzie Merle (HICKMAN) and Charles Henry EMIG, was born November 13, 1915, in Leon. She graduated from Kellerton High School in 1929. On April 2, 1936, she married Lawrence COMBS in Leon. She was a homemaker and worked at Mount Ayr cap factory. She was a past member of the Elladeen Club, 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (husband Leonard) SWANK and Peggy (husband Steve) WORTHINGTON, all of Mount Ayr; two sisters-in-law, Mardell EMIG of Marion, Helen EMIG of Lamoni and Violet EMIG of Lacona; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Gerald, Wayne and Harold EMIG; parents-in-law, Quincy and Winnie COMBS; stepsister Winnie EMIG; sister-in-law Darlene EMIG and brother-in-law Donald COMBS.
