OBITUARY - WAYNE LEROY "BUD" COLLIER

Wayne "Bud" COLLIER, son of Roy and Lela (ALLENSWORTH) COLLIER was born on August 21, 1930. He departed this life on November 4, 1999 at the Ringgold County Hospital, Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Bud was born in Silver City, Iowa and later moved to Mount Ayr.

Bud served in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War.

On January 21, 1957 he married Alberta RUCKMAN. To this union were born Diana, Mark, Shelley, Jeffrey and Douglas.

His greatest hobby was working, running his caterpillar with his dog by his side, hunting, fishing, croquet, feeding the birds, raising a garden whether it be vegetables or flowers, and cutting hedge posts in the wintertime. Indoors he enjoyed playing cards, being out in his shop, and in later years he enjoyed his woodworking.

He enjoyed being around his family and friends and his pride was his nine grandchildren.

Bud was diagnosed with lung cancer January 30, 1997. He had been fighting this illness for 23 months.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lela COLLIER, and one brother Gary COLLIER.

He is survived by his wife Alberta, his five children, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, several nieces, and nephews and a host of friends.

He will be greatly missed.

Services were at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr on Saturday, November 6, 1999 with Reverend Michael DRUHL officiating. Nancy SACKETT, Mary WEBB and Margaret BICKERS provided music. Casketbearers were Raymond HENSLEY, Eric WALTER, Carl GEPNER, Rollie CANNON, John WORTHINGTON and John CAMPBELL. Honorary pallbearers were Carroll GEIST, Charles MILLER, Allyn JARRED and Mark WILMAS.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Military graveside rites were conducted by Emmett Lioles Post #0541 American Legion.
