OBITUARY - WORLEY CLARENCE COLE

Worley Clarence COLE, son of John L. and Emma Alice (YANKEE) COLE, was born Sept. 9, 1902, near Rogersville, Tenn. When he was six months old his parents moved to Hamburg, Iowa.

On Sept. 26, 1921, Worley married Josephine Mildred KELLISON and to this union were born 10 children. In 1947 they moved to Santa Ana, Calif. They lived there until Worley's retirement in 1959 when they moved to Diagonal, Iowa, where they lived for sevral years. In January of 1979 they moved to Mount Ayr and have lived here since.

Worley famred and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic until arthritis forced him to retire. He enjoyed hunting, reading, music, traveling and television. He was most happy when surrounded by his children and grandkids.

Worley entered the Ringgold County Hospital Sept. 28, 1982, and passed away on Friday, Oct. 1, 1982. Pastor Gary GONNERMAN officated at his funeral which was held at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1982, at 1:30 p.m. His burial was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hamburg, Iowa, with graveside rites by Pastor Clarence SHAFFNER. His grandsons were his casketbearers.

Worley was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eva and Ethel, one daughter, Shirley, and a son-in-law, John SCHINAGEL.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; three sons, Worley, Jr. and wife Peggy of Santa Ana, Calif., Ronald and wife Pat of La Vista, Neb. and Buddy and wife Cathy of Mount Ayr, Iowa; six daughters, Mildred and R. A. "Bud" BEYMER, Dolores and Rene "Andy" KUONEN, Jacky and R. B. DAVENPORT, all of Diagonal, Iowa, Norma and Robert "Bob" HOWLAND, Nadine SCHINAGEL and Karen SNEDEKER, all of Dallas, Tex.; 30 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and numerours nephews, nieces and friends. Worley was loved and respected by all who survive him.
