OBITUARY - GEORGE GLENDON COLE

George Glendon COLE, 88, of Cassville, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Barry County Care Center, Cassville.

He was born Nov. 4, 1921, in Mt. Ayre (sic), Iowa, the son of Alonzo Raymond and Edna (OLIVER) COLE. On Feb. 14, 1946, in Las Vegas, Nev., he was united in marriage to Ruby RUSSELL, who preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1997. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Ethel WHITED and Helen KNIGHT.

He grew up and received his education at Mt. Ayre (sic), Iowa. On April 9, 1940, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in World War II on the USS Schley in the Kaneohe Bay and was honorably discharged on April 8, 1946.

For several years he was employed for Schlitz Brewery Company in California from which he retired. Upon his retirement he moved to Seligman to make his home. He was a member of Seligman Church of Christ and the VFW.

Graveside services with military honors were held Thursday in King Cemetery, Seligman, Missouri under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle RUSSELL conducted the services.
