OBITUARY - BUDDY LEE COLE

Buddy Lee COLE was born September 26, 1936 at Hamburg, Iowa to Worley C. and Josephine M. (KELLISON) COLE. He passed away on October 16, 2000 at the V.A. Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa.

Buddy mowed lawns, delivered papers and worked in a paint store until he was old enough to get a job at Hart & Boggs gas station. He saved his money to buy his cars - a '55 Chevy Bel Air and a '59 El Camino, which he was proud of. He enjoyed shooting pool and spending time with family and friends. Buddy was an avid reader. He loved to watch Perry Mason and Piroit on T.V. He never turned a fund raising school kid away and was a fan of the Diagonal basketball teams. He talked often of going to New Mexico and living in the desert. Buddy had lived in Ringgold county since 1960. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Buddy was a member of the American Legion and past member of the V.F. W. and the Elks Lodge in Creston.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bus and Ron; and two sisters, Delores KUONEN and Shirley Bernice COLE.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Wendy THURMAN and her husband Terry and Amanda COLE, all of Carroll, Iowa; four grandchildren: Michael-John Ray, Matthew Allen and Mitchell Lee THURMAN and Tanner Joseph SCHNEIDER; five sisters, Mildred BEYMER and husband Bud of Diagonal, Norma HOWLAND of Diagonal, Nadine SCHINAGEL of Dallas, Texas, Karen SNEDEKER of Diagonal and Jacqueline DAVENPORT of Winterset, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Pat COLE of Mount Ayr and Peggy COLE of Orange, California; as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Thursday, October 19, 2000 at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa with Rev. Alan RUSK officiating. Musical selections were "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Daddy's Hands."

Honorary pallbearers were Tom FLETCHER, Ed ALLEE, Jerry BOWEN, Brent SOBOTKA, Jim NORRIS and Dean CAVENDER.
