OBITUARY - CHARLOTTE (MILTON) CHRISTENSEN

July 29, 1920 - June 28, 2010

Charlotte CHRISTENSEN went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2010. She passed away after a brief illness/complications at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Charlotte was born July 29, 1920 in Ackley, Iowa. She was raised by her loving parents, Cora and Clifford MILTON. She was a wonderful daughter who excelled in everything from drum core to sharp shooting to sewing and music. She graduated from high school in Ackley. Upon graduation she moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota where she went to work at Saint Lukeís Hospital as a switchboard operator. In 1943 she met her handsome husband-to-be, Chris CHRISTENSEN. They married September 18, 1943. Shortly thereafter Chris went off to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war Chris returned to the USA and Char and Chris began life together as husband and wife. They began their family in 1948 with a daughter, Susan, then a son, Dan, and then another daughter, Judy. Charlotte truly loved being a mother and was very active in all the activities of her children; from horses, music, singing, drama and little league baseball.

During those years she was not only devoted to her wonderfully loving husband, Chris, to her adoring children, but also, maintained a full-time position as head of Pinkertonís Detective Agency in Des Moines, Iowa.

Char took many trips with Chris and the children to California, Utah, Florida, Colorado, Minnesota, Alaska and even Old Mexico and all points in-between. Char loved music! For many years Char was a member of a kitchen band and Charlieís Revue. Char was most accomplished on the piano, organ, violin, mandolin and harmonica. She loved playing at hospitals, nursing homes, the Iowa State Fair and various and numerous functions, and yes, church. Her signature song was, "Iíll Fly Away," a song Char and Chris played so often. Charlotte loved her family, loved life, loved people, loved animals and truly loved the Lord.

She leaves behind her devoted and cherished husband of 66 years, Chris CHRISTENSEN of Mount Ayr, Iowa; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Larry BRIDELL of Ore City, Texas; her son, Dan CHRISTENSEN of Gurnee, Illinois; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John WEDDLE of Creston, Iowa; a granddaughter and her husband, Lacey and Troy DUNNING and daughter Briley of Creston, Iowa; a grandson, Chris BAKER, and his son, Boone, of Creston, Iowa, and three other grandchildren, Brian, Bradley and Kimberly CRISTENSEN, and so many wonderful nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 30, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Doug ROHRER officiating. Burial was in the Tingley (sic, should be Rising Sun) Cemetery. Arrangements were through Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.
