OBITUARY - HARRIET MILLICENT (PIKE) CHICKEN

Harriet M. CHICKEN, 97, of Indianola, formerly of Mount Ayr and Greenfield, died June 21, 2005, at The Village in Indianola.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at The United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Susan THOMAS and Rev. Edythe HILL will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Fund at the Village in Indianola and Hospice of Central Iowa.

Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr, has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. CHICKEN, daughter of Estella Ida (WOODARD) and Rufus Vernon PIKE, was born January 7, 1908, in Kozta. On May 20, 1933, she married Neil CHICKEN in Virginia, Ill. She was a school teacher in Thayer, Afton and Mount Ayr.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty (husband John) SESTAK of Kailua, Hawaii, Patricia (husband Verne) HOOGHEEM of Manhattan, Kan. and Carol (husband Loren) MAHR of Indianola; brother, Vernon (wife Mariam) PIKE of Angels Camp, Calif.; two sisters, Luella MASON of Milwaukee, Oregon and Ada WEHRLE of Kansas City, Kan; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Robert PIKE and sister Ruth RAUSCHER.
