OBITUARY - TRAVIS ALAN CASE

Travis Alan CASE was born October 18, 1974, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Charles Rolland and Sharon Marie (PRIEST) CASE.

Travis was raised in the same home in northeast Tingley, Iowa with his parents, his brother, Darrel, and sister, Lywanda. He started school in the fall of 1979 at Mount Ayr Community and graduated with the class of 1993.

Travis loved to fish, hunt, spend time with family and friends. In June of 1986, he and Lywanda went to Wasilla, Alaska to spend the summer with his aunt Marcia and uncle Barry WHARAM, whom he loved and adored very much. As a child, he loved to draw, especially pictures of semi trucks down to the very detail; he liked to work on motors, taking them apart and putting them back together, making them run again.

Travis always had big dreams of fame and fortune. He left home in November 1993 to become a carpenter which he became very good at.

In 1996, he met Tammy Sue HAND and they were married on February 23, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They returned to Council Bluffs, Iowa and in September 2001 they moved to rural Mount Ayr where they were a very happy oriented family and enjoyed the country life with farm animals, deer and other wildlife.

Upon the marriage to Tammy, he became the daddy of her daughter, Dacia Reena, and on August 12, 1997 they became parents of Zachary Vaughn CASE. Travis was a good and proud father of Dacia and Zach. He spent many hours playing and teaching them. Travis attended an assembly at the school last fall when a rock band performed. He and Dacia were proud to say he was asked as a parent to perform with them; afterwards Travis told Sharon, "Hey mom, I was a rock star!"

Travis passed away on February 8, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vern PRIEST; step-grandfather, Wayne WARNKE; and his aunt, Marcia WHARAM.

Travis is survived by his wife, Tammy, and children, Dacia and Zachary, all of Mount Ayr; parents, Charles and Sharon CASE of Tingley; brother, Darrel, and wife Tami and nephew Joshua, and sister, Lywanda CASE, all of Mount Ayr; parents-in-law, Margaret and Terry BAKER; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Ivan SCHUPP and four nieces, all of Council Bluffs; grandparents, Vaughn and Betty CASE of Ellston, Iowa and Marjorie WARNKE of Mount Ayr; grandfather-in-law, Harold PITT and grandmother-in-law, Arlene HAND, all of Council Bluffs; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr with Reverend John BRILLO officiating. Musicians were Ginny EIGHMY, Mary TRULLINGER and Margaret BICKERS. Casketbearers were Matt SWANK, Jeff McALEXANDER, Josh Shields, Bob CLYMER, Paul MAUDLIN and Tim DOOLEY. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff LEYTHAM, Travis SNETHEN, Russell STEWART, Andy DUGAN and Joe SPRING.

Travis was laid to rest in the Tingley Cemetery, Tingley.

Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
