OBITUARY - HARVEY MAURICE CARTER

Harvey Maurice CARTER, 83, of Diagonal, Iowa died September 12, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa.

Mr. CARTER was born April 27, 1917 in Clarke County, Iowa and lived in the area for most of his life. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Edna G. (CAMP) CARTER; two children in infancy; his brothers, "Jack" CARTER of Winterset and Ira CARTER of Springhill; his sisters, Opal BROWNS of Murray and Marie COOPER of California.

He is survived by his brother, Laural of Fort Smith, Arkansas; sister Annis JONES of Murray; his son, Harvey Lee CARTER of Houston, Texas; daughters, Karen of California and Judy JOHNSON of Decatur, Iowa and his special and close friend Shirley BUCHANAN of Diagonal; several grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Graveside services were held on September 14, 2000 at Fields Cemetery at Murray, Iowa with Rev. Eydie STEPHENS officiating. Memorial contributions will be directed to the Green Valley Hospice.
