OBITUARY - GEORGE J. CARAWAY, Redding

MOUNT AYR - George J. CARAWAY, 72, of Redding died Saturday morning, Aug. 6, 1988, at the Ringgold County Hospital here.

Services were 10 a.m. today, Aug. 8, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ayr with the Rev. John ZEITLER officiating. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Campbell Cemetery, Bertram Township, Linn County. The Wilson-Watson Funeral Home of Mount Ayr has charge of arrangements.

Mr. CARAWAY was born March 9, 1916, in Hanlontown to George H. and Barbara (BARTOST) CARAWAY. He married Harriett PLATNER Oct. 17, 1931, in Linn County. He was a farmer and lived in Linn County until moving to Redding in 1972. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ayr, past director of East Iowa Hereford Association and Creston Hereford Breeders Association, and past president of Linn County NFO.

Survivors include his wife, Harriett of Redding; three sons, George D. of Worthington, Minn., Clarence E. of Lake Benton, Minn., and Kenneth R. CARAWAY of Mount Ayr; a daughter, Mary Sue (Mrs. Ned) DETERT of Hiawatha, and 14 grandchildren.
