NOTICE of DEATH - WILBUR "LEROY" CANNON

Leroy CANNON, 68, of Mountain View, Okla., formerly of Mount Ayr, died November 24, 2005, at his home. Services are pending at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr.

OBITUARY - LEROY CANNON

American Flag.jpg Leroy CANNON, 68, of Mountain View, Okla., formerly of Mount Ayr, died November 24, 2005, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Susan THOMAS of the United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. There is open visitation after 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Mount Ayr. A memorial has been established in his name.

Mr. CANNON, son of Marie (ZIMMERMAN) and Wilbur Clair CANNON, was born August 17, 1937, at Guss. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1955 and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo., three years. He married Carol "Kay" NELSON. He was a farmer. He lived in Oklahoma before moving to Colorado for six years, Alaska three years and returned to Oklahoma eight years ago. He served six years in the Missouri National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Kay CANNON of Mountain View, Okla.; two stepsons, Danny MATHERLY and Matthew NELSON, and stepdaughter Teri BEAVER, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother Marvin (wife Verlene) CANNON of Ankeny; sister Lois (husband Rod) CLOUD of Mount Ayr; aunt Mildred CANNON of Mount Ayr; five step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Marion GARNER; sister Mary Evelyn GARNER; brother Clair CANNON; and nephew Ronnie GARNER.
