OBITUARY - MARION CAMPBELL

Marion CAMPBELL was born in Boone County, Indiana, June 23, 1839, and died in Decatur County, Iowa, June 5, 1903, aged 63 years, 11 months and 11 days. He moved with his parents to Jefferson County, Iowa, in November, 1855, and from there to Decatur County, Iowa, in April, 1856, where he resided to the time of his death.

He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1858. Mr. CAMPBELL is survived by six children, four of whom were present at his death: Mr. CAMPBELL, who resides near Grand River; Frank CAMPBELL, who lives in Mount Ayr; Charles CAMPBELL, who lives in Decatur County, and Miss Lela CAMPBELL, who lived with her father in Decatur City. The eldest daughter, Maggie STANDISH, resides in Texas and could not be present at the funeral. The third daughter, Mrs. Bessie WARNER, of Iowa Falls arrived only in time for the funeral.

Mr. CAMPBELL was one of the oldest settlers of Decatur City and was well and favorably known. Mr. CAMPBELL also leaves two sisters to mourn his departure: Mrs. Sarah COVINGTON and Miss Martha CAMPBELL, both of Decatur City, Iowa. His death came very sudden and many knew nothing of his being stricken down until he was near death's door. Less than two days before he was at work and on our streets and showed no premonitions of the great change which was so near.

The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. E.B. Scoggan, assisted by Rev. H. D. YANT of the United Brethren Church. The remains were laid to rest in the Woodmansee Cemetery among many loved ones who had gone on before.
