Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
April, 1990

OBITUARY - LOREN FLOYD CAMPBELL

Loren Floyd CAMPBELL, son of Floyd C. CAMPBELL and Bernice MILLER CAMPBELL, was born Juy 25, 1931 at Mount Ayr, Iowa. He lived most of his life in the Mount Ayr and southern Iowa vicinity, except for the two years he served with the armed forces in the United States and Germany during the Korean Conflict.

Loren was united in marriage to Agnes HINER on June 18, 1955 and they were later divorced. To this union were born three children: Phyllis, Patricia and Harold.

Loren worked as a farmer in southern Iowa and as a construction worker throughout the midwest. He loved the outdoors and had a deep apprecation of wildlife and hunting and fishing. Deer, eagles and wild turkeys were espcially dear to him.

He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1949. He participated in football in high school and with the Army's Regimental Team in Germany. He won numerous awards in F.F.A. and was awarded the American Farmer Degree in 1950. He attended various churches in the area and had expressed a growing need to draw closer to the Lord.

Loren loved people, especially children. He was extremely proud of his three-year-old granddaughter, Amanda. His excellent sense of humor and love of practical jokes brought laughter wherever he went.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #172 in Mount Ayr, the Eagles Lodge in Creston, Iowa, and the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his father and two infant children, Phyllis and Harold.

He is survived by his daughter, Patty, and granddaguther, Amanda, of Tusla Oklahoma; his mother, Bernice CAMPBELL of Mount Ayr; one brother, John and wife, Rose CAMPBELL, of Mount Ayr; two sisters, Eleanor MILLER and her husband Delmar of Altoona, Iowa and Thelma MAXEY of Dallas, Texas; seven nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Gayle BUCKNER, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held April 3, 1990, from the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Jerry AVISE-ROUSE. Music was provided by Mrs. Robert THOMAS, Mrs. Jim JONES and Mrs. Robert FISHER.

Casketbearers were Bill RUSK, Roger CANNON, Raymond DRAKE, Doyle STAMPER, Dale SCHLAPIA and Vernon McGAHUEY. Honorary pallbearers were John COOK, Glen SICKELS, Harold BLADES, Marlin RICKER, Wallace LOUDON and Kenneth CHEERS.

Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
