Lightning strike

A storm with heavy rains, strong winds and sharp lightning blew through Ringgold county Sunday afternoon, causing problems with some of the final Sunday events of the Ringgold County Fair.

One lightning strike hit a tree along Fillmore Street on the lot where the First Baptist Church used to stand. The lightning strike stripped bark from the tree in long strands as electricity made its way to the ground.

The force was so strong that pieces of bark exploded across the street and hit the home of Keith and Betty COLE.
