Bender receives U.S. Bank award as local volunteer

U.S. Bank employee Karen BENDER has been honored with a U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award for exceptional volunteer service and the Princess Theater renovation fund has received $1,000 in recognition of her efforts.

The U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award honors 136 U.S. Bank employees for their exceptional volunteer service in the community this year. To recognize these outstanding volunteers, U.S. Bank is making a donation to the non-profit organizations where they volunteer in their honor.

BENDER is branch manager at U.S. Bank in Mount Ayr, and through her volunteer work with the South Centeral Iowa Community Foundation, she has been involved in the community effort to renovate the old local movie theater. She serves as treasurer of the group and is instrumental in all facets of the organization from fund-raising to keeping books to volunteering on working on the theater.
