Big crowd on hand Labor Day
Weather cooperated splendidly Monday for the continued activities of the Diagonal Lions Club Labor Day celebration.
Above, a series of antique cars and trucks drive through the parade route, which was lined with people from the top to
bottom of Broadway. A new feature of the celebration was a charity celebrity tractor pull. Here lieutenant governor Kim
Reynolds talks with the crowd following her pull. Secretary of agriculture Bill NORTHEY, representative Cecil DOLECHECK,
farm journalist Ken ROOT and other local celebrities took part.

Tractor club in Diagonal parade
Members of the Waubonsie Tractor Club gathered in Diagonal Monday, Sept. 5, to participate in the annual Labor Day
parade. Antique tractors of different years and models could be seen making their way down main street during the
parade. Future tractor club plans are to visit both care centers in Mount Ayr before winter and to have a plow day
in the fall. Members have set the date for next year's antique tractor pull in Benton. The pull will be held on
August 24, 2012.
