Happy 50th Anniversary

September 3, 1961 - 2011
His cousin, her friend,
a double date is how they met.
At Wishard Chapel they were wed,
the future to be theirs yet.
Off to Oakland to help Dewan farm,
His new bride on his arm.
With a dark-haired daughter they were blessed.
Then they moved to Lineville from the West.
A bouncing blonde-headed son added sure pride.
A love for Christ they did not hide.
A farm near Pleasanton
to call their own,
Many hogs, cattle and crops have they grown.
Church, 4-H, Farm Bureau and Fair Board have they served,
Of better friends and neighbors you've rarely
heard.
The kitchen at school needed a cook,
So retirement from raising hogs got a second look.
The kids were gone but grandkids came,
Not too many times do they miss a concert or a game.
Now, him on his ranger and her in the garden you are likely to find.
Celebrating fifty years of marriage
with Christ in the center – the tie that binds.
