Part of the wall came tumbling down at the Neighborhood Center on the east side of the Mount Ayr square Saturday morning, forcing activities to be moved from the building until repairs could be made. Barricades were placed to keep people away from the debris of the buckling wall that piled bricks on the sidewalk on the south side of the building.

Charles Loyd TYLER, 34, arrested in connection with the murder of Alberta MICKAEL of Mount Ayr, has waived extradition and will be returned to Ringgold county today. TYLER was arrested in San Diego County, California early this month as the third suspect in the murder of the former Mount Ayr special education teacher. Officials had been waiting for TYLER'S return to proceed in the legal proceedings against the suspects. Being held in Ringgold County Jail is Ronnie Dean TODD and Harold Evans TODD is being held in Clarke County Jail.

The theft of a car that was then involved in an accident is still under investigation by the Mount Ayr Police Department. A car was stolen from the Bob SICKELS residence the night of October 21 and involved in an accident at the Keith COLE residence. The stolen SICKELS vehicle hit a van at the COLE residence, knocking it sideways into the COLES' motor home, damaging all three vehicles, it was reported. The accident is still under investigation by the Mount Ayr Police Department.

At 3 p.m. on Nov. 2 the First Baptist Church of Mount Ayr plans a service to welcome, install and license their new pastor, Paul CARTER.

Kenneth M. ANDREWS of Mount Ayr was among 10 longtime employees of Iowa Southern Utilitits recognized at a dinner for employees, their spouses and retirees at the Elks Club in Creston last week. ANDREWS, a district lineman, was honored for 20 years of service. ANDERWS went to work as a meter reader forIowa Southern in 1960. Later that year, he was made an apprentice lineman. ANDREWS became a district lineman, his present job classificiation, in 1964.

  • October 22, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis MITCHELL, Ridgeway MO
  • October 27, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Rick STULL, Mount Ayr
