Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Gary WION, a member of the Beacon Bombers 4-H Club, was elected county 4-H president during the 4-H boys' annual meeting held Monday night at the Mount Ayr Country Club.

J. W. YOUNG, manager of Rideta Electric Cooperative, inc., was initiated as the organization's first honorary member. Mr. YOUNG and his company were duly reconized for their valuable assistance in the farm electrification special activity and for sponsoring the banquet for 4-H leaders and committee members.

Mrs. Leonard RUSK and Mrs. J. M. ANDERSON were elected president and vice-president, respectively, during the annual meeting of the Rose Hill Cemetery Association held October 17. Re-elected as officers of the association were Mrs. H. B. ELLIS, secretary; Mrs. W. T. TIMBY, treasurer; James MAHAN and V. L. WHITMORE, directors for two-year terms and Wilbur CANNON, sexton.

Shirley GOINS of Diagonal and Leland RAUCH of Mount Ayr have been selected by the county committee for recognition on the 10th annual KSIB 4-H Record Book Award Program to be aired Saturday, November 1, over KSIB, Creston.

A Contintal American Trailways bus made its first trip in nearly three months to Mount Ayr from Des Moines on Monday evening. A strike curtailed operations on July 1 of this year.

Voters approved the establishment of the Bedford community school district at a special election Tuesday by a vote of 923 to 336. The new district of 275 square miles includes the towns of Beford, Gravity, Conway, Blockton and Athelstan. It also includes approvimatley ten sections of land in Benton and Clinton townships in Ringgold County.

  • October 29, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur MILLER, Diagonal
