Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, December 30, 1982

by Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr Record-News

"I didn't intend to live to be 100. It just kind of sneaked up on me," commented Harry GRIMES when asked what his secret was for living through a whole century. Mr. GRIMES and a Record-News reporter were visiting on Monday at the Mount Ayr Health Center (where he has been since Jan. 27, 1976) about his long and active life. GRIMES lived alone in Tingley before moving to the Health Care Center.

Ted RICKER of Mount Ayr was re-elected as Ringgold County ASC chairman at the county convention held Dec. 17 in the courthouse assembly room at Mount Ayr. Gerald BAKER of Clearfield was re-elected to a three-year term on the county committee and was names vice chairman.

Births reported a Ringgold County Hospital this week:

  • A baby girl, born Dec. 22, to Mr. and Mrs. Melbourne FLETCHALL, Worth MO.
  • A baby boy, born Dec. 25, to Mr. and Mrs. Richard NOEL, Cuero, TX.
