Something new in the annals of 4-H club work in Ringgold county was initiated this week when Bob and Dennis CREVELING of Beaconsfield and members of the Ellston Eagles 4-H Cub, tattooed and officially enrolled their triplet Angus heifers in the 4-H beef heifer project. The identical Angus heifers were calved July 24, 1961, and today it is diffucult to distinguish one from the other.The proud owners are Bob, 15 years of age, who is in his fifth yearof club work, and 12-year-old Dennis, who has entered his second year of club work, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Marion CREVELING.

Mrs. Robert SALTZMAN of Poe township has assumed her duties as stenographer in the Ringgold County Agricultural Extension office in Mount Ayr. Mrs. SALTZMAN, the former Nina MILLER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. MILLER of Redding, is a graduate of the Redding high school. Mrs. SALTZMAN succeeds Mrs. Lyle DULANY, who has tendered her resignation, effective March 31. Mrs. DULANY has been employed in the office continuously since November 1, 1955, except for four months in 1960.

Leo V. MORGAN of Monroe township announces that he will seek the Democrat nomination for member of the board of supervisors of Ringgold county, term commencing January, 1964, at the primary election to be held June 4. This issue of the Record-News carries a formal announcement of Emerson R. SAVILLE as a Democrat candidate for member of the board of supervisors, term commencing January 1, 1963.

Keith COLE and Jack HARTMAN have been informed that they won the doubles title at the Fifth District American Legion bowling tournament held February 25 in Albia. COLE tossed a 585 and HARTMAN a 576 scratch to put them at the top in the doubles competition. Mount Ayr bowlers also won five of the 12 top places in the singles - HARTMAN tied for fourth, Charles MEACHAM was sixth, Jack MONAGHAN, eighth, Barton SPENCER, 10th and Everett REYNOLDS tied for 11th.

Three school houses in this area, located in Grand River, Kellerton and Benton, were entered Friday night and ransacked, but apparently nothing of value was taken, according to Sheriff Elbert STRANGE.

  • March 28, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald CROSS, Mount Ayr
