Warren A. DRAKE of Liberty township was appointed sheriff of Ringgold county yesterday morning by members of the board of supervisors. The appointment was made to fill the vacancy caused by the death of H. P. TODD.

On Sunday, December 18, Dr. Claude W. COOPER, superintendent of the Creston district, deliverd the sermon at Redding in observance of the 50th anniversary of the church.

A check in the amount of $2,042.81 which represents the blance in the Ringgold County Centennial fund, recently was given to the Ringgold County Hospital. The presentation was made by W. B. CUNNING, director of finances of the centennial program. The money has been earmarked for the purchase of air-conditioner units.

Carolyn REYNOLDS, 10, was the winner of the pony offered by the McNeiley Drug as a Christmas present to the lucky boy or girl. The drawing was conducted Saturday afternoon in front of the drug store with Johnny MAIN serving as the "official name drawer." The pony was purchased by the McNeiley Drug at the Methodist Men's God's Portion Sale held December 3. Carolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett REYNOLDS of Mount Ayr.

Mr. Leslie PARK of this city will be the guest of Mrs. Leo HOEGH, wife of the governor of Iowa, at a special "coffee" to be held January 5, at the governor's masnion. Mrs. HOEGH will entertain one woman from each county in the state to help kick off the March of Dimes Campaign. Mrs. PARK will attend the event as a representative of the Ringgold county chapter of the Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
