Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Mrs. C. E. THOMPSON was appointed last week by Judge Charles J. LEWIS as justice of the peace of Mount Ayr. Mrs. THOMPSON was named to succeed her late husband, who served as justice of the peace for approximately 25 years.

W. B. CUNNING was appointed last week by Judge Charles J. LEWIS as inheritance tax appraiser for Ringgold county, effective January 1, 1961. Mr. CUNNING will fill the vacancy on the board caused by the death of Clyde LESAN. Other appraisers are Roy LEPLEY and Frank P. CLARKE.

Miss Amanda MILLIGAN, a life-long resident of Ringgold County, recently gave a cherished possession to her favoirte candidate for the presidency of the United States, and this week received a gracious acknowledgment. The gift was a campaign button used a century ago by the revered Abraham LINCOLN, the Republican candidate for the presidency, who was opposed by Stephen A. DOUGLAS, the Democrat candidate. The recipient of the gift was Richard m. NIXON, the 1960 Republican standard bearer. In contrast to the present day campaign buttons, the memento is in the form of an open-faced locket. On one side is a picture of LINCOLN and on the other side is a picture of his running mate, Hannibal HAMLIN of Maine.

Bob ALLEN of Mount Ayr is the new president of boys 4-H clubs in Ringgold county, having been elected to that position during the annual meeting held Monday night at the Country Club. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave ALLEN, Bob is a member of the Tingley Toppers 4-H club.
