Valedictorian and salutatorian of the 1964 Mount Ayr Community high school are Jeani BASTOW and Eugene RICKER, respectively. Jeani, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles BASTOW, will enter the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital School of Nursing in Independence, MO, this fall, and RICKER, the son of the Eldon RICKERS of rural Diagonal, will begin his study of engineering this fall at the school of Mines in Rolla, Mo.

The Willie CORLLS were low medalists among the 10 couples entered in the 2-ball foursome played last Sunday at the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club.

The Mount Ayr Community high school Raiders track team finished second in the state Class A track meet Saturday at Iowa City. The Raiders scored 29 points to trail Eagle Grove, which has 41 1/2 points. Scoring points for the Raiders were Eugene RICKER, Rick DEFENBAUGH, Duane MILLER, Milt STONE, Don GEPNER and Alvin SICKELS.

"Swingin' Sixteen," the Mount Ayr Community high school dance band, under the direction of Merrill PERRY, will play its last dance of the school year tomorrow night in the high school gymnasium. Seniors who will play for their final dance are Martha CARR, piano; Camille LAWHEAD, alto saxophone; Eugene RICKER, trumpet; Bill CREVELING, bass and Don GEPNER, drums. Other members of the band are Marilyn DAVIS, Kay BENNETT, Jeane JACKSON, Larry BUELL and Mary Lou MULLENAX, saxophones; Phil WEBB, Janice CALDWELL and Pat IRVING, trumpets; Jane MERCER, Collus LAWHEAD and Jeane BLACK, trombones; and Paul LONG, bass. Vocalists are Mrs. Merrill PERRY and Mrs. Dan CUNNING.

Announcement is made this week of the grand opening on Monday, June 1, of the Adair's Beauty Salon in Tingley.

Janice Lucille DAVIS became the bride of Carroll D. KEMPT, on May 2, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Maloy. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Robert T. SHAY of Maloy and Max R. DAVIS of Kalamazoo, MI, and parents of the groom are Mrs. Della BEATTIE of Des Moines and W. KEMPT of Bettnedorf. Mr. and Mrs. KEMPT are at home in Omaha.
