The violent tornado, which struck Ringgold county about 4 p.m. Saturday evening, left one family homeless, destroyed nearly all buildings n the farm and inflicted heavy damage to at least a dozen other farms over an area five miles in length. Mr. Jack ELLIOTT, who resides on the O. G. DIXON farm at the junction of Highways 2 and 66, told a representative of the Record-News, that the storm was preceded by heavy rain and hail. While observing the menacing appearance of the clouds from her south window, she saw the twister strike the timber on what is known as Page Hill. It passed just west of the ELLIOTT residence, inflicting some damage to a corn crib and overturning a brooder house. The violent storm inflicted its first heavy toll at the Lyle SWANK farm, one-half mile northwest of the DIXON place, where the roof was blown from the house and nearly all buildings were swept away.

On northeast across Highway 66, the Lou ADAMS farm was extensively damaged. A porch, siding, shingles and 14 windows were blown from the house. A few pigs and chickens were killed and three sows were crippled. Other property damage included the loss of a barn, two hog houses, chicken houses, double corn crib, shop house, garage, toilet, brooder house and damage to yard and lot fences.
