Margaret WILKINS of Tingley was not among the top winners in the 32nd America's Bake-Off contest held at Walt Disney World in Florida, when winners were announced Tuesday morning. WILKINS and her husband, Merlin, had been in Florida for four days as part of the contest sponsored by Pillsbury Co. and General Electric. As one of 100 finalists from across the country, WILKINS competed in baking her cake mix category entry called "Tangy Tropical Cake Squares" for judges there.

Mount Ayr's Miracle Recreation Equipment Co. plant will have about 20,000 more man hours of work a year with the announcement this week of teh closing of the company's Seymour manufacturing location. Miracle president Paul W. AHRENS said, "We will move all of the manufacturing capability into our Mount Ayr and Grinnell facilities."

Three members of the Grand Valley chapter of Future Farmers of America attended a special FFA luncheon for Iowa's legislators in recognition of National FFA Week. The lunceon was held at the Des Moines Convention Center February 20. FFA members Chad HEWLETT, Tracy LESAN and Jeff BEDIER all met with state representative Horace DAGGERT of Kent.

Tingley Farm Supply of Tingley was recently honored for feed sales achievements by Golden Sun Feeds, Inc. Honored at a recent banquet were Dorothy and Howard WURSTER of Tingley.

John ALLEN of rural Mount Ayr captured a first place certificate and $10 cash prize in the 1985 No-till + Plus yield contest, sponsored by Chevron Chemical Company. He had the highest no-till corn yield in Ringgold county of all contestants, with 142 bushels per acre.

Nomination papers for Ringgold county recorder were filed Friday by Delores RICHIE of rural Mount Ayr, Republican. Her husband is Ron RICHIE. They have four sons, Doug and Daron live and work in Mount Ayr, Rich is a student at Iowa State University and Ryan is a senior in high school this year. They have resided on a farm in the county since 1969.

Mount Ayr Community Raiders advanced into the second round of the district boys basketball tournament with a 76-59 victory over Bedford here Monday night.
